Water-Energy-Food Security in the MENA Region (C1)
How do you manage critical resources in a region facing heightened tensions, long-term conflict and climate change impacts? This event will explore this question by bringing together and encouraging dialogue between experts and policy makers from the Middle East and North Africa. This conversation will advance the Water—Energy—Food Security Nexus dialogue initiated at the PSI 2016 conference. The event will be set up as a round table discussion, which will inform participants and attendees of the status of the ongoing MENA sub-regional dialogue; put on track efforts to identify avenues of cooperation on WEF nexus; and explore possibilities of policy development on WEF security on national, regional and sub-regional levels. The event will involve concerned ministries in countries of the Levant region, experts, practitioners and other relevant policy makers.
Objectives:
• To identify avenues for cooperation on Water – Energy – Food Security issues within a nexus approach on a national and a regional scale – specifically the MENA region
• To advance policy dialogue on actuating cooperation on issues of Water – Energy – Food Security Nexus in countries of the Levant region on both national and regional levels
• To exchange ideas and lessons learned with other policy makers from around the world
