This policy brief, based on insights gained during the Planetary Security Conference in 2019, outlines the nexus between climate change and natural resources on the one hand, and security on the other.
The authors provide an overview of measures that can be taken to address climate change-related challenges and make relevant recommendations for defence ministries to contribute to climate security. For instance, they recommend defence ministries to incorporate climate change as a mainstream factor in their policies and improve the understanding of the impacts of climate change among their personnel – at every level of the military institution.
