"We know the risks – let's find the solutions together" calls the young climate activist Penelope Lea in view of the Oslo Pax Conference which took place on the 4th and 5th of September 2019.
This year, the Nobel Peace Center organised this annual peace gathering for the first time in Oslo, where young leaders and activists come together with decision-makers, Nobel Prize laureates and scientists to produce recommendations to the UN Climate Summit in September.
As climate change amplifies the threat to peace and security, the Nobel Peace Center aims at engaging leading youth climate groups from around the world and create a space for peacebuilding that the world urgently needs.
General (ret) Tom Middendorp, who is Senior Research Associate at the Clingendael Institute will also be a part of the discussion by participating in a panel discussion on ‘Climate Change – a threat multiplier and a driver of conflict, now and in the future’ along with Robert Mood, Kumi Naidoo, Malin Mobjörk (Senior Researcher at SIPRI) and Katharine J. Mach (Associate Professor at Stanford University).
